Germany – A Surprise Bronze?

The German Olympic Trials really showed the team to be a lot stronger than previously thought.  The five member team scored a 175 which would have been enough for bronze in Glasgow last year.  Lets go over their team potential with their D-Scores from that competition and their Nationals in June.

Elisabeth Seitz 5.0 6.8 5.5 5.4 22.7
Sophie Scheder 5.0 6.6 5.6 5.3 22.5
Tabea Alt 5.8 5.8 6.3 5.5 23.4
Kim Bui 5.0 6.3 5.5 5.7 22.5
Pauline Schäfer 5.4 5.3 6.0 5.7 22.4
16.2 19.7 17.9 16.9 70.7

To Compare,

Brazil – 71.2*
Japan – 73.0
Russia – 74.5
China – 77.0
USA – 77.2

*Brazil has shown some upgrades since my post, and I will need to update it later

What’s really holding this German team back is vault and floor.  If they could have one more DTY instead of a FTY they’d go to 71.5, ahead of where Brazil was when I did their analysis.  Their bar lineup however is insane.  Only China’s bar rotation has a greater potential than theirs.
